Find both mounting points and remove and replace. The question is, why did it burn up? Did you incorrectly jump start the vehicle? Maybe the insulation rubbed off it and touched another metal part?

Post a picture please. I am wondering if you are referring to the alternator to battery "hot" wire.

I believe the ground for the alt. is the mounting bracket itself , something else is the problem and should be fixed (duh). alts' ain't cheap and the problem may have ruined yours ..

Altwrnator works tho, that's first thing I checked(duh)
