while driving the gauges all drop to zero and then go back to normal Car still
seems to run fine

Probably a bad electrical connection somewhere or a bit of moisture in a connection. Mine's been doing weird stuff like that from time to time for years. In my case putting the lights onto high beam for a few seconds usually fixes it. Can't explain it but it works.
