Where should rpm needle be when I'm just sitting

I would expect it to be just below 1. However, the tachometer needle could be positioned a bit off and display higher RPMs than the engine is actually turning. Typically, GM cars idle at about 750-900 RPM depending on the load on the engine. If you think the engine sounds like it is running fast and/or you feel the vehicle lurch, jerk or shudder when the gear lever is moved into Reverse or Drive, the engine could indeed be idling faster than it should. If that is the case, I would be looking for a vacuum leak.

LEAVE GAP FOR COLD START, IF ITS ABOUT 1 FOR A WHILE AND THEN DROP TO +- 600 IS NORMAL
