Are there knock sensors in a 2009 RX 350

Asked by GuruT6SXH Jul 18, 2018 at 12:09 PM about the 2009 Lexus RX 350 FWD

Question type: General

Will the computer retard the timing if necessary
when using regular fuel instead of Premium?

1 Answer

Yes, the computer will make the necessary adjustment for regular"grade fuel. Lexus "recommends" premium grade but does not demand or "require" it. However, if you do hear "knocking" sounds with the regular, then switch back to premium grade and check with the servicing dealer at next visit. Our 1st Lexus was a 2001RX. Currently driving a 2007RX and a 2009ES. Have ALWAYS used "regular" grade fuel with NO problems. And as a "bragging" aside, my fuel usage just checked last week on the ES was 27.5 mpg.
