Hey guys so I recently got an 84 Monte Carlo ss the
problem is I can't figure out what kind of engine it is it's
swapped with an edelbrock that's all I know and the
previous owner has no idea ether is there anyway I can
figure out what kind of engine is in this car ?
edelbrock add ons are one thing...they do make High Performance Crate Engines call them and they will walk you thru the process > http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/mc/crate-engines/? gclid=CjsKDwjw0cXIBRCxjqnE3K3sHhIkAL1LezT8- HlMz2gIyT4dOaCac9xa-idl-lvqIJw7T_PvuYMBGgIKhPD_BwE
If it has the original engine it is probably a 305.
Look for casting numbers/markings on block. Take pictures to show us as there are clues with the placement of distributor and oil add tube location ect.
Here are some photos guys thanks for the help
Still looks like 305 minus the valve covers, headers, intake, air breather and carb. The water pump, power steering is 84 305 set-up.
Although it may be an older 305.
Find & record & post here the ID code. V8 codes are stamped on a pad just forward of the right side (passenger) cylinder head. What is this number.
Look for these numbers and tell us what they are? Copy and paste pic as it may get deleted.
Will do as soon as possible thanks a lot !
The casting numbers I found are 3970014 I looked it up and believe it's a chevy 350
At least the block is: 1970-73, 3970014, CID: 350, Low Power=200, High Power=300, Number of main caps= 2/4 From: LA built Camaro
