Transmission

Asked by 1kaybaby20 Mar 19, 2017 at 10:38 AM about the 2009 Mitsubishi Galant ES

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 09 Mitsubishi Galant, 4cylinder
automatic. I was driving down the road and
went to turn a corner and the car just
stopped moving. After getting it pushed out
of the road, turned it off and back on, and it
still will not shift into any gear other than
neutral. Does this mean I need a whole new
transmission? Fyi, I just bought it 49 days
ago. If there is a reasonable way to fix it, I
would like to rather than losing my head on
the dealer.

First check the transmission fluid level to see if it is full. If so, I wouldn't go to the dealer for help, go to a transmission shop for proper diagnosis.

Also check axle, if u hit a pothole and the axle popped out of the trans, or snapped in half, the car will not move even though u can shift.
