Car died driving down the road no noise nothing won't start

you need to have somebody look at it ---way to many possible problems ...it could be an eletrical conection at starter --which would kill engine while driving & do a clicking when attempting to start ---or a double problem -- or a big problem

Even with taking the serpentine belt off it will still be too hard to hand crank an engine, without also removing the spark plugs. Since you now know the battery is not at fault you'll have to look at the starter circuit and ignition circuit. Get a meter and do a voltage drop test to the starter at least then you'll know if proper voltage is reaching it, if it is then you'll want to do a bench test on the starter and solenoid. However a starter would not cause a car to stall, so you still have some troubleshooting to do.

Hi, I had same issue. There is an engine recall on all hyundai Sonatas from 2011 to 2018. Please call Hyundai Customer care to check if you have that recall on your vehicle - if it is then they would replace your engine with a brand new one(0 miles on it) for FREE! Thank me later for the information! Hope you get your car fixed :)

Same thing has happened to me. The recall was on my engine. A new engine is a new car

@GuruCY5PN hey I got a 2013 Hyundai Sonata but can’t find that recall is it for specific vehicles only because my car died while driving twice it started again no problem but it seems feels like it vibrates a lot.

@Allan1201 it’s call the knock sensor recall. If your car doesn’t have it than you can get it for free, if your engine is already messed up which it sound like it is. We have a 2014 Sonata that just recently had a stalled engine problem while on the road. It would not start and was towed. After it being towed it started again and seems to be driving fine but the uncertainty and safety issues prevail. My issue is the engine has already been replaced due to recall. Dealer has not returned calls at this point and not putting family at risk until I know more.

I have the same problem. On the freeway I was driving and the engine stopped suddenly. I am not sure what is going wrong so gave to inspect near repair center. If there is major engine issue then I will take to Hyundai dealer. It is really a weird.

Same thing has happened to my son's car - 3 times over a few years. It is running on highway and lights come on and car stops. Happened again today and will have to tow again. Unfortunately, he has paid to have a new engine installed the last time. Looking for answers.
