2008 gmc 5.3 engine

Asked by Racerx2677 Feb 28, 2017 at 06:28 PM about the 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE1 Ext. Cab

Question type: General

Can I install a brand new 2006 chevy 5.3 engine in
my 2008 gmc.
I got 385,000 miles on the engine, I was going to
have it rebuilt, but if the brand new 2006 crate
engine would work, it would be cheaper

Personally, I think it would be fine, but there is a price difference for some reason, meaning something had must have changed from '06 to '08. I would investigate further if you want to save a few bucks, But I know you would have less head aches putting in what originally was in there.
