How does a new engine impact car value?

Asked by JMS716 Apr 03, 2015 at 12:45 PM about the 2008 Suzuki SX4 Crossover Touring AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car is at about 98300 miles and it died.
Dealership told me it needs a new engine,
which is fine because it's still under
warranty. They're the former Suzuki
dealership in town, and are doing it all
through Suzuki corporate, so it's not done
dude in a backyard garage doing the work.

That being said, I had been considering
getting something new in the next year, but
how will the new engine impact the value?
This is my first time dealing with this, so
please pardon my ignorance. Am I better
off keeping it longer? Is it worth it to trade it
in? Anything I should know?

Thank you!
