2008 Kia Sportage 55,000 miles vs 2011 Kia Sportage 110,000miles

Asked by Mar 05, 2015 at 05:59 PM about the 2008 Kia Sportage LX 4WD

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

2008 Kia Sportage vs 2011 Kia Sportage
2011 is AWD 111,000miles
2008 is 4WD  55,000 miles

Price is about the same. I am not good with cars and this is going to be my first car. I want
a car that won't break down for next 5-7years. That is my TOP priority. I will probably drive
8,000~10,000 miles/yr. My price range is about $10,000. What is the better choice? And
Kia Sportage is reliable, right?

If they can provide you with the service records on the 2008, go for that, the 2009 in Consumers Reports got rated much higher than the 2011. The 2011 with 111,000 miles is a pretty high mileage car, depending on when they first purchased the car, it could be 36,000 to 40,000 miles per year. Also, you would need the service records on that as well. The 2011 model had a black start for electrical that year. Pick up the 2015 Consumer Reports April Issue this month. They don't talk about the 2008, but, they don't list it in used models to avoid either. Good luck.

I would do as Mark suggested. The 2008 if it has been serviced and maintained properly has more life left in it.
