2008 Toyota Tundra Back Brakes

Asked by Apr 21, 2015 at 08:42 AM about the 2008 Toyota Tundra Base 4.7L 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have a 2008 Toyota Tundra.  We have replaced the calipers, rotors and pads and it is
still making a squealing sound along with grinding noise when you turn.  They have taken
them off and put them back on.  We have tried everything we can think of and can't figure
out what is wrong.  Can someone please help!!!!

Sounds more like a wheel bearing or axle shaft issue. Have you tried jacking the front end up and seeing if the problem exists while in the air? You will have to get all four tires off the ground with jack stands and put it in 4WD to get the front tires to spin. As for the squealing noise when the brakes are applied, I would remove the rotors, and take a rough sanding pad and rough up the rotors. They may be glazed.

My 08 tundra 5.7 would make a skreaching noise when baking up and putting the brakes on. I took the rotors off and found the dust cover behind the rotor rusted and bent out of round and you could see a couple areas where it wore through the cover. I cut off the area that was out of round and now the noise is gone.

My 08 tundra was doing the same thing, turned out to be bad steering linkage.
