Check the oil with the dipstick. Add accordingly. If at proper level, then it's a pressure problem, get it checked post haste

If your oil light is on, it's probably bad news for your engine. When that light comes on, the engine oil is usually extremely low and running the engine will damage the engine quickly. I've never seen this light on w/ an acceptable level of oil, but I guess it can happen.

Yeah,, Jason, it is possible that the sensor is the problem but unlikely, like you said. I don't know if that particular car shows the light for oil level or not, or pressure only. Either, again as you state, is not good. I recommend not driving it until whatever it is gets corrected.

Is it the oil light or oil change light. the ecm in this car will shut car down after a few seconds of oil light being on to reduce damage. if level is good and no wierd sounds then it's probably the oil change light

Reviving this old question with a follow up - I too have the light coming on and off and oil level looks good. I just got a new clutch - is whatever they did for that possibly the cause? I ask because I really hate the mechanic that dos the clutch and if it's something I'm gonna have to pay for (because unrelated to the clutch) I'll just take somewhere else...but if possibly because of the work thy did I'll suck it up and go back to that mechanic and get them to fix it

Depending on the Nissan year & model, the oil light blinking is a reminder to change it! It can be reset by entering the Trip menu. Check YouTube!
