A scanner can tell you that you have a nad egr valve but that doesnt nessasarily mean its bad. Find out why its bad. You could have a faulty sensor somewhere else making your egr read bad

I had the same problem and neither myself or the dealers mechanics could find the problem, until a hole was burned in the head of the number 6 cylinder. it turned out to be the injector wiring harness connector plug was located at the factory on a bracket that placed it within 2 inched of the rear the cylinders exhaust manifold (non-shielded area) and the insulation had become brittle and flaked off allowing the injector wires to touch and make the injectors feed extra fuel into the number 6 cylinder. It cost me $5000.for a new motor. No computer will find this problem!! It is impossible to find if you don't know what you are looking for. I've been a mechanic for over 40 years.
