CLK 350

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car is stuck on first gear. Even if I
change it to step tronic all gears changes
on the display but gears are not changing
on the transmission. Also Comfort does
not change to Sport its also stuck at
Comfort. I changed transmission oil and
filter but still no change. Also when
changing gears from park to drive there is
jerking motion also when changing into
reverse there is jerking movement. Please
help.

Assuming you put in the right amount of fluid and almost the same amount came out, you probably have a TCU (transmission control unit) problem, requiring diagnostics by an experienced specialist or the MBZ dealer. This won't fix itself

Make sure you have the proper oil in the transmission, and check the fluid levels. Are all the wiring connections firmly attached? Check them and make sure they are clean so they make good contact with the sensor wiring. If the fluid is low, the transmission will automatically go to safe mode and lock into first gear to protect the transmission. John above is correct, it may be the trans control unit kicking in. Is there a resetting that needs to be done after an oil change? Was this problem going on that led you to change the oil? If so, have a transmission specialist that speaks MBZ transmission, take a gander at it.
