Check engine light and no AC

I am driving a 2009 Corolla and am having some issues.

Here goes:

-A while back the AC's air would get hot (same as the temperature of the
air outside). At the same time the knob used to adjust the temperature
would barely budge.
-This weekend the AC's air went warm and there was a loud noise under
the hood when the car was idling (it did not sound like a belt). After driving
the car, parking it, and driving it again a few hours later the AC seemed to
work fine.
-Today the Check Engine light came on and the AC stopped working
(blows warm air) about a minute after the car is started. After driving the
car around all day, in the Southern summer heat, it seems whatever is
going on has officially taken its toll on my car.

The 95+ heat is REALLY not fun.

It's awful arriving to work dripping in sweat in the morning.

Any chance you know what is going on?

Sounds like your compressor went out. Have your mechanic run a test on your a/c.
