Reducing the size of the wheels/tires on a Jeep Wrangler X 2008

Asked by migration_Bullwink Feb 15, 2014 at 02:23 PM about the 2008 Jeep Wrangler X 4WD

Question type: Car Customization

My wife and I are in our 70's and do not want to get rid of our Jeep Wrangler X (2008), we
want to put smaller wheels/tire (car/small truck) on the jeep to facilitate exit and entering
the Jeep. we presently have P255/75R 17, what is the small size wheels/tire can I put on
the jeep without changing anything or using adapter?

you do realize that changing to smaller wheels will also throw off the odometer and speedometer. you will also affect the handling of your jeep. you might be better off adding a step or running board to the sides to make it easier to get in and out. that will also help to retain or add resale value should you decide to sell it.

We do have a running board, but I have RA which restrict what I can do, Is their anyway around these problems, at the most I can always use my Garmin for my speedometer. Not worried about resale value. My wife and I do not do any off- roading.
