2008 Tacoma steering wheel became difficult to turn. It tightened up while driving. The battery light came on right when the steering wheel tightened up, too.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After completing a left turn, the steering wheel on the '08 Tacoma tightened up a little and the battery light came on, simultaneously. The steering wheel was noticeably tight during a couple of lane changes. When attempting the next turn, a right turn, the wheel was very tight. Almost mission impossible. Any thoughts?

After checking the power steering level, which was fine(ish), the serpentine belt was shredded and partially wrapped around the base of the fan. There's the problem. Short drive to the auto parts store (in a different set of wheels). Time to change the belt.
