Parking brake gets stuck

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My parking brake often gets stuck set on in cold weather. The handle will
release and go down as if it was being released, but as I drive I can feel that
the brake is still on. Sometimes engaging and releasing the handle will
dislodge it, other times I have to drive for a little while before it comes off.

Any ideas?

The cables may have moister in the casing and be freezing, or the cables are starting to run inside the casing. E-brakes are always a pain if you do not use them all the time. You could try spraying some PB Blaster along the cables, and cable ends, otherwise you would have to take it to a garage to have lubed up or the cables replaced.

Never use your emergency brake in cold weather it will freeze and you will go no where
