the romote control will not unlock the trunk

Asked by V402008 Jun 27, 2015 at 10:49 PM about the 2008 Volvo S40 2.4i

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I press the truck release on my keypad the lights blink but the trunk does not
unlock.  I made sure the Valet is not engaged via the glove compartment.  What can I do
to get it operational?

First you have to do testing! 1) DOES it pop open when you use the built in trunk release button in your car? If it does not then it is the trunk release device. 2) If it does release when you press the button, then it is something wrong with the remote receiver's connections. It would be strange that only some parts of your remote work like locking/unlocking/ lights but not your trunk release, so it probably is a frayed or broken wire connection to the electronic trunk release.
