Saturn Astra P1101
We replaced the MAF, air filter, disconnect battery, replaced fuze & had computer reset & eng light keeps coming on.
I do know that GM has a recall about DME ( ecm ) it has to be reprogram for emission reason thay maybe your problem I had mine done @ Chevy dealer give them last 8 of the vin and they can see if you have any open recalls or campaigns I do know it covred for 8/80
The codes on the Astra doesn't always read a correct issue. Some codes read that the sensor is delaying the timing advance. the test is to switch the two sensors for cam position. if it follows the bank then it the sensor if it does not follow. it is the Seloniod that controls the oil. this is the part is less expensive 30 dollars easier to just change them at around 100,000 miles
I am running into a similar issue; running into a p0101 error code. Already replaced MAF sensor and O2 sensor, air filter and still running into the check engine. Took it to the dealer who suggested replacing the fuel injectors which I rejected to do. I have called GM and waiting for their response. More details: 2008 saturn astra 47,000 miles no loss of power or otherwise.
The map and the O2 sensor would be the typical mechanic's response, This would not be the issue. if it were me I would look on the belt end of the engine, top on either side of the valve cover are two solenoids that control the valve cam position. they are identical units, very critical to the Bank 2 intake and Bank 1 exhaust timing, they relate to the hydraulic pressure applied that adjusts valve position. To test them unplug the wires, set the voltmeter to check the continuity of the coil. if they both have the same reading. use a Tork socket to remove the bolt, pull out from the engine. there is a screen on the valve. This next step is a little difficult attach two wire extension to the coil pins in the plug socket. apply 12 volts of current. If the valve clicks it is good. if you don't hear a click this one has a dead coil. replacement usually will cost about $25-30.00 on the internet. Then repeat with the one in the back bank2 intake this should fix the issue. run it in this condition could damage the valves.
