2008 pontiac g6 motor issue

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2008 pontiac g6 lost all power going down the
interstate, pulled over and couldn't even get enough power
to pull forward. Towed it home and thought it was maybe
the catalytic converter plugged but I still have plenty of air
flow through the exhaust. I noticed on the front passenger
side right behind the tire it was leaking oil and it sounds like
there is air pushing out from the side of the motor. Could
this possibly be a blown head gasket? The oil leak was just
a drip, not a pour.

Look and see where the oil is coming from. A hole in the block indicates a thrown rod.

Is this common? It has 179,000 miles. It's a rig ride so it's been on lots of dirt roads.

one part often over looked is a bad PCV valve that if defective can cause all oil seals and gaskets to fail.
