anytime you have a sensor replaced on your car the battery should be disconnected that way the code that has been sent to the ECM is removed out of the memory, and when it has been repaired the check engine light shouldn't come back on for that particular sensor. keep in mind that you should get a specific O2 sensor code bank 1 downstream or upstream sensor and the same for bank 2 most newer vehicles have 4 O2 sensors on them if they have dual exhaust

egr valve I just changed mine 3 screws and boom light went out and she passed emmision

dont forget to unhook your battery so it resets computer after u change egr valve it worked for me you tube also is a huge help with hands on repairs
