I just bought a used combat from
dealer it is running like 196 198
coolant is that normal or do I need to
have it checked .

It's good. I have a 2008 Cobalt LT, had it a bit over a year, and it took me a bit to get familiar with normal op temps. Mine tends around 190F-192F on the freeway, a bit warmer on side streets. I got nervous originally when I would stop for a while and it sometimes got as warm as 219F, but never higher. At that point, the fan always kicks on, and cools it down to about 194-198.
