Rpm and fuel

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When my rpm gauge works,it jumps and drops and
my car hesitates. But when the rpm gauge
completely stops, my car runs fine. Any
suggestions?

Sounds to me like the wire for your tachometer (rpm gauge) has broken insulation somewhere along its path. In addition the wire strands are broken. When the ends of the wire make a connection, they brush against the grounded metal that cause then to break. When this ground happens, you loose spark because the tachometer runs off of your coil / distributor system. It could even be inside the tachometer as well. Try inspecting the wires that connect to the tachometer. Look for anywhere that it comes close to metal. Hope this helps

My 2006 Chevy cobalt stalls out on the take off all the time. Any idea what it could be?
