Is 7.5 litre gas good

I find my 2008 Calibre very hard on gas, plus is there a recall on these cars.

Average fuel economy for most people ranges from 23-29mpg. However the 2.4L engine with the 6 speed manual has been report to get as bad as 19mpg in city driving. The 2.4L combined with the variable automatic is slightly better than that with 21 mpg city. There were two recalls and one campaign issued for that year.
