Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My parents have a 2008 Chrysler T&C, the transmission shutters between 3rd and 4th gear only after it gets hot. Also when this happens it seem to compression break when slowing speed. The van drives normaly until it reaches temp, no codes or check engine lights. Thanks

Check your transmission fluid level. It should be check while the van is running. The fluid should be red like cherry kool-aid. If its brown and smells Burt get the transmission flushed. I recommend BG brand.

Thanks you for the suggestions, but Chrysler in their wisdom chose to not place a dip stick on the 62TE transmission, they call it a sealed unit, requires no owner interaction, Ha Ha, well not really funny now that I think about it. after reading several other sites I replaced the input speed sensor, while it is still not smooth it is drivable. looking into testing the output speed sensor next. Any additional suggestions would be helpful, my parents are retired and on a fixed income so I need to get to the bottom of this without dealer help.
