Power sliding doors not working manually

Asked by Auret Feb 16, 2017 at 03:44 PM about the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country Touring FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2008 Town and Country. Both the passenger doors open fine with the buttons and the key fob, but wont open or close manually - both from outside and inside the vehicle. The door unlatches, but won't slide - you have to push it hard to open. The back tailgate does the same - will not open manually, but works with all the buttons.

Most 08 Caravan models did not have power slide operation initiated by the handles, they only operated via the switch or FOB. If your's was 1 of the few that did have that operation, make sure the override switch in the overhead center console is set to allow it.

I have a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country what would be causing the side doors to not automatically open? I can only pull them open manually.

I had the same problem with my 2007. If you go on YouTube you can find a video showing you how to check the wiring in the door. 9 times out of 10 the ground wire is broken, because of the stress from the cables bending everytime it opens and closes. I fixed mine by splicing the wires back together. It has been working for 6 months now
