Half the dome light on my Chevrolet HHR is staying on all of a sudden. The slider is set to auto (middle setting)

Asked by karenanneg Jun 23, 2013 at 11:23 PM about the 2008 Chevrolet HHR LT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The back portion of the dome light is going off after a few seconds, but the front part is
staying on.  This is happening all of a sudden.  What the heck????

LCM (lighting contol module) is the one that gently fades the lights...is in control of the lights and apparently the ON switch is switched on for the front part....else the LCM is bad (unlikely) look for the door switch pushed or bent on all the time~ sometimes a wad of tape in just the right place will turn it off~....just a thought~
