Replacing two cooling fans and starter issues

Asked by Gabrielle Sep 11, 2018 at 10:33 AM about the 2008 Honda Element LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my 2008 Honda element has about 190,000 miles on it.
It’s a basin and it’s been great for us. We’ve had a new
starter put on it recently new tires new brakes. My son
drives the car now and recently it overheated we took it to
the dealership and they indicated that we have to replace
two cooling fans for $1100 ??   more recently his car is
having starting issues but I think it’s an old battery which
I’m going to verify this evening. Is it worth it to fix his car. I
have a friend that I’ll do the work for 800 instead of 1100 ?

Starter goes bad in these vehicles for some of us. I am been pretty lucky. But I've replaced the OEM battery once with Honda Dealer battery so far so good. I always have it tasted for load performance. To work in the engine compartment is a nightmare and the dealers will charge you arm and leg.
