2008 Passat 2.0 vs 2010 Jetta SEL. What would you buy?

Asked by Feb 02, 2017 at 03:42 PM about the 2008 Volkswagen Passat Turbo

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

2008 Passat 2.0 Turbo has 102k miles listed for $3800 and 2010 Jetta SEL has 103.9k miles listed for $5000. The passat seems more appealing to me because I thought it would be more reliable than Jetta after 100k mark but I am no expert. Any suggestions?

Condition is everything. Have a mechanic check them out. I would only buy them if they are in top shape and have been very well maintained.

assuming they were maintained well, what would you prefer?

I have no personal preference and would not buy a VW. If I had to pick one I suppose it would be the Passat.

I wouldn't touch a high-mileage modern VW, personally. But with a gun to my head, I'd pick the Jetta to avoid the inevitable carbon build-up in the Passat.
