What are some of the reasons the wrench light will light up on a 2008 Lincoln MKZ?

Asked by Chris Oct 16, 2018 at 12:38 AM about the 2008 Lincoln MKZ AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was looking at a 2008 Lincoln MKZ off Craigslist. 93,000 miles, no check
engine light on but the wrench light is on. I think the wrench light is an
indicator for the AWD/Transmission system? It drives straight as an arrow,
no pull at all when taking hands off the wheel. Accelerates fine, stops on a
dime. I read somewhere that putting in a new battery can cause the wrench
light to turn on as a false alarm, is that true? I tried running a code reader on
it. No codes came up at all, and the wrench light is just.. There.

Look in the owner's manual to determine what the wrench light means. It may just mean that it is time to change the oil.
