Car won't go into gear

First check the transmission fluid. Does the car not move when put in Drive or Reverse? Or is the shifter not moving?

I HAVE A SIMILAR ISSUE .THE SHIFTER MOVES , THE INDICAIOR STAYS ON THE P AND THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ENGAGE NO MATTER WHAT GEAR I PUT IT IN. THE CAR WAS WORKING FINE. I PARKED IT RAN IN THE HOUSE TO GRAB SOMETHING GOT IN THE CAR PUT IT IN REVERSE AND THE CAR DID DID NOTHING. THERE WERE NO PREVIOUS SIGNS OF ANY ISSUES ARISING
