Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just installed a new furl pump on my 08
grand prix gxp and now my fuel gause is
reading full when it is almost empty, i have
double checked my work and everything
looks where it should be, i dont want to
buy a whole new fuel pump is it possible to
just buy the fuel gauge or switch gauges
with my old fuel pump

probably switch the old gage is possible but you may have somehow got the float assembly flipped over reversing the sender action

A fuel gauge that always reads full is a bad power (+) wire. Double check the connections at the fuel pump module. If you took apart the module assembly and just replaced the pump, the problem could be with the wiring on the module assembly that's in the tank. Even though it's more expensive, it's always better to replace the whole module than just the pump. If you did replace the whole module and the electrical connections are good, most likely the new module is defective. HTH. -Jim
