My check engine light has come on, went to the advanced auto parts and had them run a test. The coolant temperature thermostat is causing the problem the light check! Is this an issue that needs to be resolved right away and if so how long can I drive until it would be a serious issue?

if your vehicle is not overheating you can continue to drive it but I recommend replacing as soon as you can to ensure your car operates as designed. It also will not pass a state inspection as long as the light is on
