Why does my 08 ford escape stall when I put it in mud I

I have 4x4 but it acts like it doesn't want to go in
mud

Because the traction control applies the brakes to the spinning wheels. All of the wheels are probably spinning in mud. Traction control is a bad joke.

Thanks Tom but I disabled the abs and now I can go anywhere I want no problems
