If the front cvaxcles are removed can you still
drive the car

No, while this is just my educated guess on the matter, basically the rear is in neutral until the wheel sensors detect a difference in rotational speed due to the front tires spinning faster than the rear. At that time the car computer tells the rear drive module(RDM) to engage by the electromagnetic clutch, which puts power to the rear differential. In your case if you remove the front CV Axels and go to drive(don't know how your planning to keep the transmission fluid from spitting out of the driver side axel hole) the front wheels will just sit there not moving and so will the rears and therefore you will not move. Also, even if you were able to trick the system to engage the electromagnetic clutch in the rear it might be too stressful on it and you could damage your RDM.
