What causes an OBD Link Error on a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis?

Asked by Count44201 May 06, 2013 at 12:28 PM about the 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis GS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2008 Mercury Marquis is missing, overhead compass is out and the OBD can't be read; it's stating Link Error. This is ongoing, at first it was missing and OBD said Cylinder 6.  After replacing Coil pack, light didn'y go out.  Went to have it reset and then received the Link Error.

Check the fuses and replace the blown one for the obd2 connector. as far as clearing the light you can either clear it with the code reader or remove the neg. battery cable for a few mins and reconnect it.
