Manual car struggling to maintain speed in higher gears?

Asked by Stasha77 Dec 11, 2016 at 08:28 PM about the 2007 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V

Question type: General

when traveling along in 5th or 6th gear it seems I
barely have any power. I can gas as hard as I like
and the rpms barely increase. Obviously worse on
hills (to the point where I'm losing speed) but still
bad on the flat. I have very little experience with
manual cars so I'm not sure what's normal and
what's not haha!

6th is for flat ground, lower gears are for hills. You probably don't notice much power until the engine is turning well over 3,000 rpm which is normal for a small engine.
