2007 RAM crank but no start.

Asked by Inkedgorilla Feb 27, 2016 at 09:11 PM about the 2007 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Inkedgorilla about a second ago
I have a 2007 RAM 1500 HEMI and it will crank but
not start. I took off the air box and sprayed starter
fluid into the throttle body and the truck started for
a few seconds. So do I run the jumper between
spot 7 and 25 in the fuse box? Because it says that
7 is "reverse lockout sol batt srt10" and 25 is "pwr
mirror"? Please excuse my ignorance on this but we
just had a baby and do not have money to take my
truck to a shop or dealership. Any help is
appreciated. Thank you.

Hey there Inked-Sorry to hear about your rig, and don't apologize for asking questions, no one knows all the answers about every type of vehicle or problems. I would think that given the symptoms you are providing, that it might be the Crankshaft Position Sensor or CPS. Is the check engine light on?

I should've added that I have read on other forums about running a jumper between number 7 and number 25 to bypass the fuel pump relay. If anyone knows how to bypass the fuel pump relay I would appreciate that advice. Bypassing the relay is what I believe I need to do since I do not have the money to replace the TIPM at this time.

Hey man. Thanks for the quick reply. I believe the crank position sensor is good since while The truck is cranking the RPMs raise up to about 500 or so.

Sure thing man! Sorry my advice was inaccurate. I think you are right about the fuel relay but I haven't worked on a Ram Pickup newer than 2001, and have never performed that particular procedure. I don't want to lead you down the wrong path but found a few videos on the process on you tube. See the link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcV5oAF1hM0

Thanks man. I appreciate the advice and the video. For some reason though I don't know where to jumper in my fuse box. And I know the Rams are different than the car in the video. Do you have any idea where I can search for the answer on how to jumper around the fuel pump relay?
