My '93 Mustang LX 5.0, does not power up when press down on the gas. The RPM's go up, but the motor just reves up.
Almost seems not to shift gear when press on gas when driving. When parked
can reve engine and seems to have power.
Is it an automatic? Fluid level? Motor mounts in good condition?
yes, automatic. Well taken care of. 80,000mi. Last time I was in I think they did recommend new motor mounts. Thank you for answering. Tony C.
your car has an AOD. They we're pretty weak. Check the underside of the throttle body blade. There should be two connections, one for the throttle and one for the transmission. a lot of times the plastic grommet that holds the trans TV cable breaks and comes loose. This needs to be connected or you will slowly burn up the trans. Source a new one in the Help section of your local auto parts store.
FYI: Broken motor mounts change the angle of the driveline and the car won't shift properly under load.
I will take it in to the shop tomorrow. I think it would be more likely to be the cable. Is it safe to drive it to the shop(approx 5 mi.)? Thank you very much for your excellent help!
Yes, just take it easy.
Thank you Tom! Tony C.
