2007 Chevy Silverado z71 4x4 1500

Asked by Amandaleigh8621 Jan 14, 2020 at 02:42 PM about the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ Extended Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a couple issues going on...
My 4x4 every so often says it needs to be serviced,
my horn isn’t working, and my heater blower
stopped as well, I’m still in the middle of making
payments on it and now I have found a wire that I
have no clue what it connects to. Has anyone else
had these same issues or similar ones?

what testing have you done? Note the horn diagram. See the horn relay, the relay has two sides, the control side, left side in diagram. That side needs voltage and ground, top wire is voltage, bottom wire is ground on that side. The wiring circuit in steering column and horn switch are part of ground circuit. The load side of relay, right side in diagram, when energized sends voltage to actual horn. It says pcb relay which usually means the relay is soldered into the fuse box, you can remove it. To find your problem, I would have to check voltage and ground circuits? See the horn fuse? Have helper press horn switch, check for voltage at the fuse with test light. If you have voltage but no horn, the problem is after the test point. If no voltage, problem before test point.

Did you check voltage and ground at the blower wiring connector? Note the diagram. You can take blower connector loose from blower motor. At the wiring connector use both ends of testlight, key on, hvac blower controls on, if the lamp comes on, I suspect the blower motor itself. If your missing voltage or ground, we'll have to test further. I can help with testing, but, that's about it. good luck
