2007 Chevy Silverado LTZ Window Trim Corrosion

Asked by superglide Apr 08, 2008 at 08:09 PM about the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2LT Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 Silverado LTZ with streaks from corrosion running down the rear doors.  It is coming from beneath the window sill trim.  The corrosion is from aluminum and not steel.  The dealer said that it could be cleaned with Mother's or MaGuire's cleaner wax.  My question is this, has anyone else had this problem?  Did you or your dealer find a permanant solution?  I've owned Chevy trucks all my life and never had this occur before. I would appreciate any feedback that's out there.

something is not right, dealer might not want to do warranty work (they get paid less and it a large process to get there money back) try another dealer, and see what they say, they might have to replace the trim, but yes a good wash/wax will take care of that. of the 8 06-08 Gm900 on the fleet we dont have that issue and they are white. but I would try another dealer

I have a 2011 Silverado 1500 LT and it's my first and last Chevrolet I will ever buy. Since I bought the truck new from a slimy dealer, I've had to have a roof leak fixed, a new headliner put in, a new satellite radio antennae installed and my master window cluster will not close the rear passenger side window. But, the real stickler is even though it's a 2011 I only have about 34,500 miles on it and the drivers side rocker panel is rusting to the point of disintegrating. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN TO ANY CAR LESS THAN 10 YEARS OLD! Of course while it was under warranty chevy would not do anything about it and they only paid half the cost of repairing the roof leak and headliner fiasco. Casper271 is correct! SOMETHING ISN'T RIGHT! and CHEVROLETS RUST!!! so if you want to fix the problem, with your truck, wax it real nice and trade it in on any other brand of truck.
