Question type: Car Customization

Purchased GM oval tubular assist  steps for my 2007 Silverado crew cab 4x4 (new body style). They give you u-nut inserts to use. however, at the front of the truck on the inner rocker panel there are no holes to use these. there is a hole with what looks like a threaded insert in it. but, the hole is two small to accept the M8 x 30 mm bolts provided. what should be done?

Befire you drill or modify the rocker panels contact the manufacturer of the step bars. They should have a website with instructions or at the very least an 800 phone number.
