scan for codes even if the light ain't on , there may be a bad sensor causing default , the computer will shut it off , ? ?

also does it have a internal, or External voltage regulator ? it should be chanced at the same time, also have your new Alt tested, I have installed many new out of the box, and they were defective !

make sure a new alt. is paired with a charged batt. a dead one may ruin the new alt.
