Considering buying a 2005 Buick Century, how many more miles?

Asked by Maureen Aug 10, 2017 at 01:35 PM about the 2005 Buick Century Sedan FWD

Question type: General

So, the car has 150,129 miles on it (US) and within the last year had the
transmission replaced.  It's my ex's girlfriends, friends car.  This is all the
information I have on the car.  She is asking $2000 USD for it.  From the
pictures he sent me it appears in good condition.  Just want to find out what
the average life span is in miles for this car/engine.  Thanks in advance

I would recommend having a mechanic look it over and drive it for their opinion. The car's engine can go another 50,000 miles or more however, there are a lot of costly things that can go wrong (A/C, C/V Joints, radiators, brakes, etc.)

Doesn't make any difference who's car it is or was. It could last another 15 miles or it could last 75,000 miles. Depends on what condition it is currently in and how it was driven and serviced in the past. There are no clairvoyants here on this site.

Buying your ex husbands girlfriends car? Seriously? Not enough trouble and pain in your life?

@F_O_R are you an imbecile from birth or just recently due to a stupid accident? I am on disability due to a chronic debilitating disease that has nearly taken my life quite a few times. I'm a RN by trade but haven't been able to work for the last 5 years because I've been fighting for my life. Fortunately, my ex- husband, the father of our children, and my son, 21 and a Fire Fighter since 18 (graduated as 1 of only 3 out of 18 in the class with both their fire and EMT certifications qualifying him to get a job right out of HS and has been working as a part time fire fighter / EMT for the last 2 years and is now in the top of his class for paramedic) are going in half each on a car for me as a gift. So, technically, no, I don't have enough trouble in my life. I am incredibly blessed and count every day that I wake up to continue mothering our 16 year old daughter, a incredible gift. I am a firm believer in Karma and won't tempt her by being as eloquent as you have been with your answer. I'll just let her take care of the situation at hand. Have a wonderful day!!!!!

I'm not looking for a damn clairvoyant, I'm looking for an intellectual person who knows the average life span of a 2005 Buick Century with one older couple owner (70's-80's), that has 150,000 miles on it and has been sitting in a garage for the last 6 years, except for the occassional drive to keep it operational. If these answers are because I am a woman, obviously you are all assuming I'm one of those prissy unintelligent women who don't give a rats ass about a car when she buys one. I obviously know I have to take it to a mechanic. I am looking for a roundabout average life span of the type of automobile that I inquired about. Have a wonderful day gentlemen. SMH

I always liked a girl with attitude. LOL. These answers are because, you posted way too much personal information which has diddly squat to do with your question. Your question can not be answered because of too many variables and lack of pertinent information. You'd be better off asking how high is up?

You can get many miles out of it, but since the tranny was replaced, i would steer clear. This to mee says bad maintenance practices. I have a 2003 lesabre with 170k and have not had to replace nothing...and yeah i know this is an old post, but this is to help others looking
