03 infinity g35 sedan 3.5L

Asked by Feb 10, 2017 at 03:46 PM about the 2003 INFINITI G35 Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 03 infinity g35 only over heats after 5 min of
driving but not at idle. Ive changed water pump and
the thermostat twice. Also new temp sensor and
bleed valve. My heater hardly works and the
thermostat is connectes to bottom hose of
radiator. Which stays cold and other hoses for
cooling system are hot. Thermostat opens at idle
but not when driving. The system pressures up so
much when driving and overflow tank just fills up. I
dont have a loss of power, missfire, or milky oil so
ive rulled out blown head gasket. And ive burped
my cooling system. Even hooked a waterpump to
coolant hose that hookes to bottom or engin and
forced cooland in to get air out. But car continues
to over heat only when driving.

Some cooling systems are just a bitch to purge. Some garages have a machine to purge out cooling systems. You may have to find a garage that can purge the air from the cooling system. It sure sounds like trapped air. But if an engine has gotten hot at any time it is still possible to have a bad head gasket or a cracked head.

The best way to rule out the headgasket other than what you tried, is pulling the spark plugs and looking down there to see the piston tops. Or a pressure test

@Coupe_5736 did u ever find ur solution?? I am experiencing the exact same thing with my g35 to the T. Changed the water pump and thermastat too. Any suggestions??
