Question type: Maintenance & Repair

gone through plugs, wires, & coil pks, now my guy is thinking it jumpped time but still
runs, just runs real crappy. But I was told by another shop that if it jumpped time it would
have ruined the motor and stop running completely..is this true? It will cost me $250.00
just for shop to dig into checking to see if it's jumpped time with no gaurentee that will be
the problem. Any thoughts?????

It is not true that if the timing jumped it will not run. It may have only jumped one tooth, just enough to keep it running, but very crappy. I checked the posts at the link you posted, and all of them are possible causes. First (I know, a real pain in the ass) I would reopen it to look at the timing belt and double check to make sure it is set where it should be, then also make sure the tensioner for it is set properly or working, (generically speaking as I do not know the specifics on this model) depending on what type is in there. The fuel injectors can also be a cause, but a word of caution on those: When/if you replace them, do not go cheap like on ebay of amazon! Get only OEM! I made that mistake on my 2001, and ended up just pissing away the money because even though they looked identical to the OEM right down to the color of the plastic, they were nothing like them in operation and I ended up tossing them.
