Oil pressure
So I have a 2000 Tahoe with the first 5.3 gen. Engine hasn't given me any problems until a bad
cold snap caused my oil pressure to be irregular. When it is cold it will drop to basically 0 but
once it warms up the problem goes away entirely like it never happened until the next day after
sitting in the cold it does it again until it reaches a certain temp. do you think this could just be a
check valve? I only use full synthetic Mobil 1 and have never went over an oil change. Should I be
concerned? Or should I just do a motor flush change oil and hope for the best? I will say this SUV
has about 282xxx on it
Haven't done anything yet also hasn't got any worse.
try to double check the oil pressure, make sure the sending unit is good. On a cold motor on start up it should be 40-60 psi cold. it could be higher.

My oil pressure on 04 tahoe 5.3 was flucuating up and down since i got it . it has 230 k miles, then on a trip from Fla to Arizona, towing 5x10 enclosed motorcycle trailer, motor dropped to zero pressure, and died on freeway. Towed to shop motor was starting but knocking bad. Need new motor not worth fixing. So i Bought a 04 Ford Explorer 5.4 same mileage, oil pressure is always in middle, no up and down, cold or hot, at idle no matter stays the same. Ford tows much better, no Chevys for me !
Yes checked oil always on full, recently changed
