Cons: This is for all you Acura owners that have more than 150,000 miles. Replace the sensor attached to the radiator that controls the fans. It's a 35.00 part. If you don't you may pay 3,000 for a blown head gasket. The fans will seem to be working but will turn off causing the car to overheat. Dealers will change your thermostat, water pump, radiator and the problem will still be there. Sooner or later your engine will start to overheat when the sensor starts going bad.

It sounds like it might be a blown head gasket. Even a small compression leak will build up pressure in the cooling system and once enough water has been forced out it will overheat. If you have no leaks but you are still adding water occasionally, then this is a possible cause. If your water pressure is too high, as in a rock hard upper radiator hose, this is the most likely reason. The easiest way to check this is to completely fill the cooling system, then run it to operating temperature with the radiator cap off and look for bubbles in the radiator fill neck. It's important to get rid of all trapped air in the system first, and there should be a bleed screw similar to a brake bleed screw at the highest point in the system to help you do this. Tap and squeeze the radiator hose repeatedly to set up pressure/vibration waves through the water to help free and move all of the trapped air out of the system. Once all of the trapped air is out there should be no more bubbles. If it continues to look like a glass of soda with tiny bubbles escaping, then you have a blown head gasket leaking compression into your water jacket. Also, always use the recommended 50/50 mixture of water and anti-freeze. Anti-freeze does all of these things: 1) It lowers the freezing point of the water. 2) It raises the boiling point of the water. 3) It inhibits rust and corrosion in the cooling system. 4) It lubricates the water pump. As you can see, since most cars run at around 190F and pure water boils at 212F, without antifreeze it doesn't take much of a cooling problem to boil the water and boiling water won't cool a motor.

Nobody has mentioned the other control unit . The RADIATOR FAN CONTROL UNIT located under the dash above the Gas Petal area. It's a Black Box about 4" x 4" x 3/4" attached by a 10mm bolt. You'll need to replace it with the Exact Numbered Unit it says "Rad Fan Control Unit" on it. This may be a Junkyard only part as it's discontinued check by Year.
