Car won't crank

Asked by Rayhab2 Aug 10, 2013 at 10:38 PM about the 2006 Honda Accord EX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car will not start.  When the ignition is turned on it doesn't make a sound, not even a
clicking.  Car has a new battery.  I have already checked connections.

"No noise" with a new "fully charged" battery and key in the "Key On, Engine Start" position means the starter solenoid is bad. Being that it's seven years old and not knowing the mileage, it would be my first choice given you made the comments of "No Clicking" and Have already checked the connections."

If the gear selector switch has failed or moved out of position ,indicating that its in "Park" this will cause the starter to not to function. So the car won't crank in gear. This unlikely but, If the throttle position sensor reads position other than "idle" this will also not engage starter.
